Our parish, like all parishes in the Church of England, has to finance itself. Regular and occasional churchgoers enjoy our worship and other support that our parish offers.  Without financial support from our users, we can neither continue the current activities of our Mission & Ministry nor maintain our beautiful grade II* listed building.

TO FUND OUR CHURCH WORK

On an average it costs around £13,500 per month to run our Parish, which includes:

​

  • Support of our vicar and ministry team.

  • Enabling worship services and the opportunity to join online.

  • The choir, music group and band leading the music that enhances our worship.

  • Maintaining and heating our church, office and Magdalene Centre.

  • Maintaining our forecourt and garden.

  • Providing activities for children and young people.

  • Reaching out into the wider community.

  • Diocesan support and advice (e.g. safeguarding, mission, training).

HOW MUCH SHOULD I GIVE

The short answer is as much as you feel able to. It is a thoughtful, prayerful decision that only you can make.

 

If it helps the average amount given within our Diocese of Southwark is £80 per month per person. We would also ask you to review your giving annually.

HOW TO GIFT-AID

If you are a tax-payer and would like St. Mary's to reclaim the tax, complete the Gift-Aid declaration form below. Alternatively you can also send it by post using the Church address at the bottom of the page.

GIFT-AID DECLARATION

 

  • Gift aid is reclaimed by the PCC from the tax you pay for the current tax year.

  • Your address is needed to identify you as a current UK taxpayer. I want to Gift Aid my donation and any donations I make in the future or have made in the past four years to the PCC of St Mary Magdalene with St Martin.

  • I am a UK taxpayer and understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year it is my responsibility to pay any difference.

Once you have made provision for your loved ones, leaving a gift in your Will to St Mary Magdalene with St Martin is one of the most valuable and lasting ways you can continue to support the mission, ministry and heritage of our church in our community of Addiscombe.

 

Your gift could enable us to achieve something that we could not normally do.

 

Maureen Besley did just that. The gift in her Will enabled us to renovate church toilets and sound system.
