Praying for the selection of our new Vicar Please continue to pray for the right person to become our new Vicar. Two key meetings in the Selection Process are coming up on Sunday 21st March the Selection Panel meets to make a short list of the applicants, and on Saturday 17th April the Panel will interview the shortlisted candidates. The Selection Panel consists of our two PCC representatives (Vilma Miller and Sue Ogleby), our five Lay Patrons (Penny Smee, Jennie Rutter, Tony Fisher, Paul Harwood and Nigel Rolfe), Bishop Nick Baines and Archdeacon Tony Davies. We are having special prayer meetings on Monday 15th March and Friday 16th April. In each case we will meet in the Youth Room of the Magdalene Centre from 8 till 9 pm. Do try to make a special effort to come to these special prayer meetings. Alpha 2010 Please remember to keep praying regularly for the Alpha course. Prayer updates are available on the Alpha display. Church 2010 Diaries – Please take one This will save them being wasted. If you are able to donate £1 or less this will be going to Croydon’s Churches Floating Shelter. THE CHILDREN'S SOCIETY - Annual Collection Please can all box holders bring your boxes into church and give them to me. I will record your donation and return your box and receipt the following week. The deadline is 14th March, Mothering Sunday. Thank you for your support. Ann Barlow Tower Fund to raise the remainder of the money for Phase one (cleaning and restoration) of the Tower project. We still need to raise money so please prayerfully consider what you are able to give towards this project. Thank you to those who have already given to this project. 'Calling all ladies! Tired of your wardrobe? Then come to the Magdalene Centre on Saturday 13th March at 7pm for a Clothes Swap (including scarves/ accessories). Rehearsals areat St Mary Magdalene Church on Thursday 18th and 25th March from 8pm to 10pm and Sunday 28th March from 3pm to 5.30pm. Further details from Revd. Kim Aston or Mary Conlan. St Mary Magdalene Holiday Club We would like to run another club this Summer for the week beginning July 26th 2010. This is a very successful week and outreach to children of 5 – 11 years. But to be able to do this we need enough volunteers. If you are able to give up the whole or part of the week please speak to Val Rolfe as soon as possible. Thank you. The Depression and Anxiety Self Help Group who meet twice monthly on Monday evenings need another mature leader. You could be chatting to members, doing refreshments or running the meeting. Dress Rehearsal a midweek, monthly children's club for those in Years 3 – 6 of Junior School. At Dress Rehearsal children can explore stories from the bible, play games, do craft and art, and have a fun time from 6.15 pm – 7.30 pm in the Magdalene Centre. Next session 25th March. Curate's House - short term letting We are all aware that Louise and family will be leaving shortly after Easter Sunday and thus the house will be vacant for a short period - up to, may be, 18 Months, as it can take this long for a new trainee to be in place. If there is anybody in the congregation, aware of a short term accommodation need and would be prepared to take an Assured Shorthold Tenancy Lease at commercial rates during this period, please speak with Louise or the Churchwardens. The income generated is important to us to help cover ever increasing costs. Finally there is a need for some help with redecoration at the end of April - Can you offer some assistance, please? The Bishop of Croydon is leading a Bible Study each Thursday in Lent, at Croydon Parish Church from 7.30 pm - 8.30 pm. Theme: Re-shaping the world. The disciples who accompanied Jesus to Jerusalem were having their world turned upside down. But what 'world' was it and what changed. All welcome.
