Thank you very much to everyone who has welcomed me so warmly into the Church family here at St. Mary’s. I really enjoyed the induction service last Saturday and am delighted to be with you. Thank you very much for all your kindness, cards and most of all your prayers. May I encourage you to pray daily for our shared ministry and mission to those around us, at work and at home and for our worshipping life together. There will be no Wednesday Holy Communion in August. The dates for Wednesday Holy Communion at 10.30 am for the next term are 8th September, 6th October and 3rd November.
Please join us for a night of raffle and live bands on Saturday 31st July in The Magdalene Centre 7pm - 10.30pm to raise money for the British Heart foundation. The evening is dedicated to Amy Clarke who was a member of our congregation and we are hoping that a large number will turn up to support the bands and to support Amy’s charity. The Good Read Group are meeting on Thursday 19th August at Clare’s to discuss ‘Cold Comfort Farm’ by Stella Gibbons. The book for September is ‘People of the Book’ by Geraldine Brooks. All women are welcome and further details are available from Jennie Rutter.
Operation Christmas Child - Shoe box appeal. It will soon be time for this so can we be encouraged to consider filling a shoebox with gifts for disadvantaged children in Africa or Eastern Europe. The gifts show the children that God loves them & they have not been forgotten. This can be done individually or by Life Groups. If you have any questions please speak to Muriel Price.
Informal Service Reading and Tea & Coffee Rotas - volunteers are needed to read or serve refreshments at the Informal. If you are able to help please speak to Rebecca O'Donnell.
If anyone would like to volunteer to be on the Youth Group rota once a month please contact Dan Salliss.
Child Protection Officer – Is there someone who would like to help Molly Klidzia with this role in Church. Please speak to Molly or Val Rolfe.
Outing to St Albans by train on Wednesday 18th August. Meet at East Croydon Station at 9.45 am. Cost about £8 group fare, or freedom pass/railcard. Visit Cathedral, Verulamium, street market, museum and coffee/lunch at Cathedral cafe. Details from David Gilbert at Whitgift Almhouses. Accompanied children welcome.
