Uniformed Organisations

Uniformed organisations of the Girl Guides and Scouts movement are a great way of meeting other young people in the local community and having fun through a variety of activities.

The church has a Rainbows group attached (for girls ages 5-7 years) which meets in the Magdalene Centre on Wednesday early evenings and two Brownie packs (for girls ages 7-10 years) which meet on Wednesdays (Woodside School) and Fridays (Magdalene Centre). These are a great way of meeting other young girls.

Children progress to Christchurch Methodist Church for Scouts and Guides as we have no groups of our own, due to a shortage of leaders.

Christchurch, the Methodist Church in Lower Addiscombe Road, almost adjoining Canning Road, which is closely linked to St. Mary's, runs Rainbows on Friday evenings and Brownies and Guides (girls ages 10-14 years) on Thursday evenings. Beavers (for boys 6-8 years), Cubs (for boys 8-10½ years) and Scouts (for boys 10½ -14 years) are held on Tuesday evenings.
