Young People

We have an active youth section at St. Mary's. We aim to help them integrate into the church family, grow in their understanding of God and his Word and help them in time deepen their personal relationship with Jesus. All the family start by meeting together in church for the main morning services at 10.00am and 11.30am. After a short time of worship, the young people then leave for their activities.

The JPs (ages 11-14 years) meet in the Crypt during both morning services (except when there is All-age Worship on the 4th Sunday at 10.00am and during the Summer months). The aim is to have a great time in helping the young people to develop their own faith through Bible studies, games and discussions. It is the hoped that JPs will in time come forward for Confirmation, for which early evening classes are provided annually.

The Senior Pathfinders (ages 14-18 years) meet in the Youth Room in the Magdalene Centre. We aim to help young people grow in faith and fellowship through fun and relevant Bible study. Fortnightly, there are Sunday evening social meetings in the Magdalene Centre called 'Mic Nights'.

Young people are encouraged to get involved in wider church life. Music is one such area and the band is a often well represented by members of the youth group.

A Youth Group takes place on Sunday evenings from 5:30 to 7:00pm. A list of upcoming activities is available.

Youth Group is a night for the young people to come and relax with their freinds, to grow in fellowship and to build relationships with both leaders and other young people in the church. MIC Nights has a range of activities, such as, Cinema, bowling, games night and much more.

All Leaders are CRB checked and have the young peoples best interests at heart, helping them through struggles at school, giving them advice and being there for them as they develop their relationship with God.

We hope that in the future the evenings will grow, through young people bringing friends and friends bringing more friends, where eventually we will be able to open a tuck shop and be able to raise money to further our facilities.

Youth group is a place where young people, whether from a church background or not, can come and be treated like VIPS. As Danny Brierley says, 'Youth are not problems to be solved but VIPS to be served'.
