Worship Services

The worship styles are varied; aiming to be creative, relevant and accessible to visitors. The trend is to move the church slowly in a more contemporary direction.

The "Term Calendar" provides details of the current services and can be downloaded from the "Diary and News" section.

The Sunday pattern of services is as follows:

10.00 am Morning Worship
(more formal in style with choir and music group; Holy Communion* 1st and 3rd Sundays; 0-17 yrs groups; All-age Service on 4th Sunday)

11.30 am Morning Worship
(informal in style with band; Holy Communion* on 2nd Sunday; 0-14 years groups)

6.30 pm Evening Worship
(traditional with choir, Holy Communion* 2nd and 4th Sundays; Prayer for Healing on 4th Sunday, 1662 Evensong on 5th Sunday)

* Holy Communion is a special activity started by Jesus Christ (see Mark 14.22-24), and which involves the symbolic sharing of bread and wine in memory of his body broken and blood shed for us on the cross - here he lovingly offers forgiveness of sins and salvation to all (see 'Confirmation' under 'Church Life')

We have Sermon series in the morning. The same sermon, with usually the same preacher, is given at the two main morning services and forms the basis for the Life Group material used that week. There is, however, a different sermon in the evening, based on the Church of England's 'Principal Service' Lectionary.

In Midweek, Morning Prayer is said in church on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 9.00am. There is a service in the Crypt at 10.30 am on Wednesday (Holy Communion 1st and 3rd Wednesdays; Morning Prayer on others).

Special Services are conducted at the key Festivals in the Christian Calendar (see 'Festivals' under 'Diary and News').

Please see 'Diary and News' or contact the Parish Office to confirm the exact times of services.
